What to do when an AI chat loses context
AI conversation memory has limits. Long exchanges, topic changes and separate sessions can cause details to drift. Correct the conversation with one compact recap instead of adding several new explanations.
Use this structure: who is present, where they are, what they are trying to do and the one fact that must remain consistent. For example: “We are at the hotel, the key is still missing, and only Maya knows about the letter.”
If replies become generic, restate the character’s two core traits and the current goal. Starting a fresh thread can also be clearer than continuing a heavily conflicting conversation.
Private, sensible use
Keep personal information out of AI chat
Do not enter passwords, one-time passwords, full card numbers, bank credentials, government identity documents, exact home addresses or confidential workplace information. Use fictional details when a roleplay needs personal context.
